Creating a Home Requires an Act of Violence,
Creating a Home Requires an Act of Compassion,
is the title of the exhibition by Hans van Lunteren and Eric de Leeuw at Kunsthuis Secretarie, Meppel.
For the philosopher Martin Heidegger, the use of the dining table marks the moment where dwelling, or simply being, begins. In this sense, preparing places to eat at the table, for dinner, can be understood as a form of building. This idea fascinates us: it returns architecture to its essence, to what it must truly be, the dining table as a place to dwell.
